In this course, we learned so far how to use SketchUp to design objects, furniture, and simple spaces.
Designers and engineers design spaces and buildings using the scientific methods.

Design is weak without data analysis, testing, and examination.
We will be designing a 600-square-foot house that is energy efficient and that uses the most up-to-date discoveries in building science.
You each have to do your own research and write a 700-word-paper with reference. This is paper has to show 5-7 science-based methods that can enhance the performance of the house you are designing. Note that 30% of the grade for this project will come from good research that you use to back your design ideas.
Grading will based on the rubric attached at bottom of this page
In the United States, buildings account for:
So what is the scientific process? Read the diagram below and watch the videos:
Data collection, observation, and testing your theory are the bases of what we will be doing in this section.
This is an example of an academic paper that you can use to research your project:

In the United States, buildings account for:
- 39% of total energy use
- 68% of total electricity consumption
- 30% of landfill waste
- 38% of carbon dioxide emissions
- 12% of total water consumption
